About the time in İzmir
Clocks in İzmir stay put all year. There is no summer-time switch to remember, so UTC +3 is what you will get in January and in July alike — useful if you book recurring calls with people in Turkey.
İzmir runs on Europe/Istanbul, which puts the city UTC +3 from Coordinated Universal Time right now. The clock at the top of this page is not copied from your device: it is anchored to our reference timestamp and re-rendered every second against the IANA time zone database, so it stays right even when a laptop or phone has quietly drifted.
The zone identifier Europe/Istanbul is the value you want in code, calendars and travel systems. Abbreviations change with the season, but Europe/Istanbul keeps pointing at Istanbul time whatever the date, which is why every timestamp on this page is built from it.
